RIBs for the Baltic

The Baltic has a short, steep chop, so for the sea choose a boat of about 5.8 m or more with a deep-V hull. A RIB works well here: the tube softens the waves and adds stability, and the rigid hull holds its course at speed.

CE design category

The category shows the conditions the boat was designed for. C means coastal waters and bays: waves up to 2 m and wind up to Beaufort 6. B means the open sea: waves up to 4 m and wind up to Beaufort 8. You will find each model's category in its specifications.

What size for the sea?

For the Gulf of Gdańsk and coastal trips 5.8–6.8 m is enough: G580, G650, G680 or D600. For longer passages choose 7.5–10 m: the category-B G750 or G850, the G980 with a cabin, or the offshore D950.
